Plot : In the Loop, a comedy flick directed by Armando Iannucci, is about the strange rivalries and edgy coalitions that are made in the run-up to the war. Simon Foster (Tom Hollander), a minor minister of international development in the British government, makes a casual comment about the war. This becomes a major news story in media and results in Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi), the communications director having an outburst. Meanwhile, Foster gains much media attention and is sent to Washington, D.C., along with Judy (Gina McKee), his personal communications director and Toby (Chris Addison), a political damage control specialist, to meet the American political and military leaders. However, there he ends up being stuck between diplomat Karen Clarke (Mimi Kennedy) and State Department official Linton Barwick (David Rasche), who support the war, and Pentagon attaché General Miller (James Gandolfini) and activist Liza (Anna Chlumsky), who oppose it. The things get even more complex due to the past romantic liaisons between Liza and Toby and Gen. Miller and Clarke.
