Plot : Import/Export, a drama flick directed by Ulrich Seidl, is about two different and unrelated people who travel in opposite directions in search of a better life. Olga (Ekateryna Rak), a Ukrainian nurse heads to west hoping to find a better life there, leaving her family behind. She ultimately gets the job of a charwoman in the geriatric wing of a hospital. On the other hand, Paul (Paul Hofmann), who is a laid-off Viennese security guard, travels to Ukraine from Austria on foot, along with his step father in search of a good living. Both Olga and Paul are full of great optimism as they try to start their lives afresh which they are sure will be full of dazzling and bright days. However, their efforts put them in front of a depressing, gloomy, and harsh reality. Their unrelated journeys also provide the audiences with an insight into the newfound matter-of-fact understanding about death and sexuality besides providing a few lessons on how to clean the teeth of stuffed animals.
