Plot : Cherry Blossoms: Hanami is a romantic drama directed by Doris Dörrie, about an elderly husband who starts appreciating his dead wife at a new level. Trudi (Hannelore Elsner) learns of her husband, Rudi (Elmar Wepper), being terminally ill and convinces him to visit their children whom the couple has not seen for years. But on arriving, the elderly couple finds that their children Franzi (Nadja Uhl) and Karl (Maximilian Brückner) have little time for them and they then go on to the Baltic Sea where Trudi faces an untimely death. A devastated Rudi then learns about the unfulfilled wishes of Trudi and travels to Tokyo, to celebrate the way of life Trudi always wanted to have, during the cherry blossom festival.
