Plot : Directed by Cristian Nemescu, California Dreamin is a comedy drama set against the backdrop of the Kosovo War, when a railway chief delayed a NATO train containing military equipment. US Marine Capt. Jones (Armand Assante) is interrupted in his task of delivering a consignment of NATO equipment to Yugoslavia, during the Kosovo War, by Doiaru (Razvan Vasilescu), the station master in a godforsaken village. Doiaru stops the train transporting a plethora of weapons across the country without any official documents and having only the verbal approval of the Romanian authorities. This makes the equipment highly vulnerable to the locals, including the Doiaru who stopped the train for his personal gains. When the train resumes its journey, five days later, it leaves behind not only broken hearts and dreams, but also a civil war.
